In her new role, Schweda is responsible for day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including management of client projects and a team of chemists. Schweda first joined Smithers in 2017 as a Principal Scientist. She was one of the first staff members of the analytical services laboratory in Akron, which opened its doors in 2017.

“At Smithers, our clients are the focus of everything we do, and Alison is deeply committed to upholding our client-centric values,” said Paul Cummings, General Manager, Medical Device Testing, Smithers. “With her background, her efficiency and adaptiveness, and her passion for this lab, she will be a great asset to our customers in this new role.”

Schweda has over a decade of experience in chemistry and research management. Prior to joining Smithers, she worked at Charles River Laboratories, Covance Laboratories, and NeoStrata. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemistry from Hillsdale College.
