Stephen Higgins

Steve Higgins brings to Smithers Pharmaceutical Development Services nearly 30 years of experience in academic and biotechnology environments. After earning an MSc in Biotechnology and Biomedical Science at UMass Boston, Steve helped establish George Church’s lab at Harvard Medical School and with George developed multiplexed DNA sequencing and synthesis technologies. Steve also established a multiplex ELISA development laboratory at Dynex Technologies, where in collaboration with UCLA and the Gates Foundation he developed and deployed to Kinshasa, DRC a 5-plex serology panel for a 10,000 sample national serosurvey of vaccine-preventable diseases. Along with 12 patent awards, he has authored and contributed to multiple scientific papers and posters.
