Penny Pearson-Davies moved to Harrogate, UK in 1993 to join the Environmental Fate team of what was then called Hazleton UK and is now part of Smithers. She leads a team of experienced Soil Scientists involved in collecting, handling, and physical, chemical and biological analysis of soils, sediments, and waters to GLP for use within studies conducted to meet environmental fate guidelines and works to ensure harmonisation and oversee various laboratory systems across all departments.
Penny studied Physical Geography at Huddersfield Polytechnic, is a member of the British Society of Soil Science, and retains a collaborative friendship from her early days working for the Soil Survey of England and Wales. Spending time outdoors has been an important part of her life. She enjoys exploring the countryside on walks and participates in women’s sports, in the past as a football goalkeeper and currently as a wicket-keeper for her local cricket team.
