High-performance pigments are those that impart extra performance to the end-product in which they are formulated; either through higher levels of exterior durability and colour fastness, better thermal stability or heat resistance, creation of special decorative effects, or interactivity with the environment. They can be organic or inorganic colour pigments, metallic or pearlescent pigments, or interactive pigments such as fluorescent, thermochromic or photochromic.
